Between 1896 and 1905, the architect Abd al-Rahman al-Aqrouq (who is from Nablus) built one of the most magnificent and elegant houses in the city of Salt, which belonged to the Abu Jaber family. Abd al-Rahman al-Aqruq, who built the Abu Jaber building was influences by Nablus and southern Italy, as he introduced imported materials such as bricks imported from France, tiles and factories imported from Italy, and colored glass from Belgium
